DUBAI -- The Dubai International Film Festival organizers have opted to cancel all media activities surrounding the screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom as "a mark of respect" following the passing of Nelson Mandela, who died Thursday.

The decision leaves the festival without a press screening on the Tuesday morning of the movie. Additionally, the scheduled attendance of Naomi Harris and Lindiwe Matshikiza has been rescheduled to "later in the week" with exact timings still to be confirmed.

The movie’s gala red carpet screening, set for Tuesday evening, will go ahead as planned, organizers said. However, the gala's walkway will be closed to all photographers and videographers, and no photography or videography will be permitted within DIFF HQ from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

"We trust that our media partners will appreciate these amendments to the schedule as an appropriate tribute to a noble statesman and inspirational leader of our time," junket organizers said.
