AFI unveils his Top 10 movies, TV by 2013

That make the film a slave and the series of TV Orange is the new black part of 12 years? Not much, but the two will be among the honorees to 2013 AFI Awards, which were announced today.

The AFI award, awarded annually by the American Film Institute, to highlight the ten films and TV series "who better to advance the art of the moving image, enhance the rich cultural heritage of art form of America, inspiring the public and artists and/or make a mark on American society." The selections are determined by a jury of AFI members, researchers, film and television artists, critics and AFI Trustees.

10 Winners of film of this year are American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Station of Fruitvale, gravity, him, inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska, save Mr. Banks, 12 years old, a slave and the Wolf of Wall Street. The 10 selected TV programs are The Americans, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, House of Cards, Mad Men, Masters of Sex, Orange is the new black, scandal and Veep.

Creative sets each of the productions will be celebrated at a luncheon in Los Angeles on January 10, during which the clips of the winners will be shown and justifications for their selection will be read.

"[The] AFI Awards is a time for more successful 2013 storytellers, take a break and appreciated - not as competitors, but as a community," said Bob Gazzale, president and CEO of AFI in a statement. "Recognizing their collective contribution to the richness of the cultural heritage of America is AFI national mandate - and honour."

Side movie, 12 years, that a slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, gravity, save Mr. Banks and The Wolf of Wall Street have been widely expected to be included on the list. Fruitvale station, him, inside Llewyn Davis and Nebraska were less sure bets, so their inclusion is certainly worthy of mention - as is the exclusion of all is lost, August: Osage County, blue Jasmine, Club of buyers of Dallas and Lee Daniels of Butler. (Last year, eight of the nine best possible picture Oscar nominees were among the top 10 movies from the AFI).

As for television, it is worth noting that several new watch - The Americans, House of Cards, Masters of Sex and Orange is the new black - claimed points, while several shows which made the top 10 of the AFI list last year — American Horror Story (episode of last year was the most nominated Emmy show of the year), girls, homeland, Louie, Modern Family, and The Walking Dead - as well as the popular Big Bang theory and the fame of Downton Abbeydid not.
